Electricity Bill Calculator
Your complete state-wise bill estimate — the main tool
What it does: Works out your exact electricity bill for any state or UT in India. Pick your state, choose your DISCOM, enter units consumed (or previous + current meter readings), and it returns a full itemised breakdown — slab-wise energy charge, fixed charge, FAC, electricity duty, meter rent and any free-unit subsidy, all subtracted correctly.
How it works: It loads the SERC-verified FY 2026-27 tariff for your DISCOM, applies telescopic slab billing (each slab's rate only counts for the units inside that slab), then adds fixed, FAC and duty before deducting the subsidy. A state-wide comparison bar shows what the same units would cost under other DISCOMs.

What it does: Tells you exactly how much any single appliance adds to your bill. Enter the appliance's wattage (printed on the label or power plug), daily running hours and your ₹/unit rate.
How it works: The formula is simple and standard: watts ÷ 1000 × hours × days = units per month, then units × your rate = monthly cost. You can compare appliances side by side, so the culprit in your bill is never a mystery.

Tonnage + star rating + usage = what your AC really costs
What it does: Estimates the monthly units and bill for any air conditioner — 0.75 to 2 ton, 1 to 5 star, inverter or fixed-speed.
How it works: It combines the AC's rated draw (tonnage × ~1,200 W + blower) with the BEE star rating efficiency and a realistic duty-cycle — inverter ACs run at ~70% average draw while fixed-speed runs ~90% — multiplied by your hours and days. Pick your ₹/unit rate from the presets.

Air cooler running cost vs AC — the summer saving checker
What it does: Calculates how much your air cooler (desert or room cooler) costs to run and compares it against an AC for the same usage.
How it works: Coolers draw far less power than ACs — typically 100–250 W depending on size and fan speed. The tool multiplies watts × running hours × days × your ₹/unit rate, then shows the cooler vs AC gap so you can decide what to switch on.

What it does: Shows the monthly cost of your fans — the most-used appliance in every Indian home and one of the easiest to underestimate.
How it works: Ceiling fans draw roughly 55–75 W, table fans 35–50 W, wall and exhaust fans 20–40 W. Enter fan type (or wattage directly), speed setting, running hours and fan count — the tool does the watts × hours × days math and even includes a comparison table of fan types.

How it works: Enter your monthly consumption (or let it pull your state's average). What it does: Works out the monthly cost of charging an electric vehicle at home and compares it with petrol running costs for the same distance.
How it works: Enter your weekly distance, the vehicle's efficiency (units per 100 km), charging efficiency (~90%) and your ₹/unit rate. The tool calculates kWh needed per month, the charging cost, and what an equivalent petrol car would spend (assumes ~20 km/l at current fuel prices).

How is an electricity bill calculated in India?
Slab-wise energy charges + fixed charge + FAC + duty + meter rent − state subsidy. The calculator shows every line.
What is a slab tariff in telescopic billing?
Each slab's rate applies only to the units inside it — e.g. 50 × ₹4.95 + 100 × ₹5.95 for the first 150 units.
What is the fixed charge on my bill?
A monthly charge based on connected load (₹/kW) or a flat rate per connection — some DISCOMs waive it below a unit limit.
What is FAC / fuel & power adjustment?
A per-unit charge (e.g. ₹0.112/unit) that recovers the DISCOM's changing fuel cost — it varies every month.
Which states have free electricity schemes?
